Nanning Holidays Overview
The English translation of Nanning is “South Prosperity”. Its lush foliage has also earned it the nickname “green city”. Nanning is the capital of Guangxi, an autonomous region of China. The city has a rich history and has been ruled a number of different Chinese dynasties. They include; Jinxing prefecture, The Tang Dynasty, The Song Dynasty, The Yuan Dynasty, The Ming Dynasty and The Qing Dynasty. During the Vietnam war, it served as a post for sending supplies to North Vietnam. In fact, it is still currently a gateway for travellers going or coming from Vietnam. The city is now a commercial and industrial centre. It is surrounded by an agriculturally fertile region and has a vibrant printing and paper manufacturing sector. Nanning currently has a population of just fewer than 7 million people. There are a total of thirty five ethnic groups who live in the city the majority of whom are the Han. The main language in use is Chinese Mandarin. Being a rich cultural city, there are bookshops and cultural markets all over the city. The climate in Nanning is humid and sub tropical. Summers run from June to September and are hot and humid. Winter runs from December to February when the weather is humid and cold.
