Nadi is located in the north west of the Fijian island of Viti Levu, and is the third largest city in Fiji. Culturally Nadi is a mix of Fijians and Indians, with Islam and Hindu as popular religions.

Diwali Festival is celebrated by Hindus all over Fiji towards the end of October or the beginning of November. Diwali is the Hindu Festival of Lights, and everybody decorates their homes with candles and oil lamps, along with sweet foods. Diwali is a Public holiday in Fiji and is a happy event. Even non-Hindus in Fiji join in the happiness of the event. The festival honours the goddess of wealth and prosperity, Lakshmi.
Bula Festival is held in Nadi mid July each year. This festival features parades with local marching bands, beauty pageants, a Bollywood night, Pacific dancing competition, and many free events. There is also the Miss Bula contestants who are on show in traditional Fijian dress. Nadi tends to incorporate horse racing events as well due to the fact that it is the horse racing capital of the country.
