Mildura lies on the banks of the Murray River in the far north western corner of Victoria, 550 km from Melbourne, 400 km from Adelaide, and 30 km to the NSW border and the town of Wentworth. Mildura really came to life after the Chaffey brothers introduced irrigation settlements in the late 1800's. Mildura has many beautiful and historic building still on view from these prosperous times. Mildura is famous for its wineries, surrounding orchards, temperate weather, and generous tree lined streets. Many of Mildura's attractions are linked to the Murray River and include fishing, swimming, canoeing, paddle steamer cruises and hiring house boats. Hot air balloon flights, go-karting, roller skating, mini-golf, art galleries, museums, helicopter flights, and golf are some of the other tourist activities available in this town. Mildura also has the Mungo National Park and the Willandra Lakes system, which is world heritage listed, just a drive away.

Mildura Wentworth Arts Festival is held each year in March and features over 40 events including the popular favourites such as Music under the Stars, Opera by the Lock, and the Mardi Gras and Street Festival. FLIGHTS Virgin Blue has 1 flight daily between Mildura and Melbourne. Qantas has 4 flights daily between Mildura and Melbourne, and 2 each days on the weekend. Rex Airlines provide a service between Mildura and Melbourne 3 times daily Monday to Friday, 1 flight on a Saturday and 2 on a Sunday. There are no direct flights with any airline between Mildura and Adelaide or Mildura and Sydney.
