Marseille Holidays Overview
The capital of Provence, an area in the South East corner of France, Marseille once had a bad reputation. In recent years, however, it has undergone a remarkable transformation, and the swanky new Panier quarter, the modern tram network, and the attractive docks and marina around the cathedral are all a part of that.
Marseille is the home of the French National Anthem, La Marseillaise, which was originally sung by citizens from Marseille marching north to defend Paris during the French Revolution. The city was founded by the Greeks as a trading post, and it is still an important Mediterranean port today.
