Lyon Holidays Overview
Lyon metropolitan area lies in the natural plain of the Rhone Valley towards the South East of France. Part of Lyon is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and within that area the entire architectural history of Lyon can be seen, from its Roman foundations to the present day. UNESCO recognised the significance of Lyon due to its “continuity of urban development”, and as an “outstanding illustration of city planning over the centuries”. There are many ways to view Lyon’s many attractions, and guided tours, weekend passes, and the Lyon City Card are all available. The people of Lyon take their food very seriously, and local traditional dishes are served in most of Lyon’s many restaurants. Expect to eat varied pork products, dumplings, fish, wild game, fried hashed potatoes and soft cheeses, all washed down with a bottle of Beaujolais or Côtes du Rhône wine.
