Larnaca Holidays Overview
Larnaca is one of Cyprus’ most significant seaside resorts and is located on the south coast. Despite being used as a commercial port, the palm tree lined seafront is very attractive. Larnaca Marina is one of the four official sea entry points to the island of Cyprus. The city was founded by the Phoenicians, and gained importance during medieval times when a northern port silted up, and trade moved south to Larnaca. Like the rest of Cyprus, Larnaca has suffered from earthquakes, which has led to a great deal of rebuilding work. This makes it an archeological paradise, with remains of former civilizations found with almost every excavation. There are a large number of beaches around Larnaca, and many of which have gained awards for environmental cleanliness, and water sports are a popular pastime. There are a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, and bars, catering to locals and tourists alike.
