Inverness Holidays Overview
Inverness is a bustling Scottish town and acts as the hub of the highlands. Inverness is situated on the River Ness, which provides a focal point for the town, and close to Loch Ness, the home of the mythical monster. Inverness has a mid eighteenth century castle, which is an impressive pastel coloured structure that looks beautiful at sunset, but it is fairly small compared with neighbouring highland fortifications. The location of Inverness has made it a real transport centre, with rail and road links to northern Scotland and the Orkneys all passing through it. The town centre of Inverness itself is best explored on foot, and there are plenty of good pubs and one off restaurants to tempt you to take a short break; the range of cuisines on offer is surprising in such a northern town.
