Originally the home of the Gumbaynggirr people, they settled I the area due to the excellent climate and wealth of resources. In 1847, Captain John Korff shelted in the bay from a storm and was impressed with the natural protection to shipping from the headlands. He named the harbour area ‘Korffs Harbour’ and the town eventually became called Coffs Harbour when gazetted in 1861.
Nestled between forested hills and at the edge of sparkling blue waters, Coffs Harbour is a picturesque slice of heaven. Beyond the beaches lies ‘The Solitary Islands’ named by Captain James Cook when he sailed past the islands in May of 1770.

Soak up the atmosphere at the Coffs Coast Dragon Boat Regatta held on the Bellinger River in Mylestom. Coffs Harbour Regional Airport is serviced by Qantas, Virgin Blue and Brindabella Airlines. Qantas provide daily flights between Sydney and Coffs Harbour with seating capacity per flight of up to 72. Virgin Blue provides 14 return flights between Coffs Harbour and Sydney each week and one flight per week between Coffs Harbour and Melbourne. Brindabella Airlines offers 12 direct flights between Brisbane and Coffs Harbour and 12 flights between Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour with a connection to Canberra.
