Bremen Holidays Overview
The City of Bremen is the capital of Germany’s smallest state of the same name. It is a small compact city located on the Weser River, and is the perfect location for a weekend break. It has an impressive old town, a maritime quarter with restaurants, cafes, and boutiques, and a 1930s art nouveau laneway known as Bottcherstrasse. Established by Charlemagne in the eighth century, Bremen was initially used as a base for Christianising Scandinavia. The modern city has a strong science and aerospace industry that maintains its prosperity. It is also known as the home of Beck’s beer which can be sipped at one of Bremen’s many waterfront bars.

The highlight of the festival is the Freimarktsumzug parade, where flamboyantly decorated floats process through the streets of Bremen. http://www.freimarkt.de/ Bremen Carnival Carnival in February is a chaotic time in Bremen. The theme of the carnival processions and celebrations changes each year, but there is always a big party on the Friday night, a street parade during the day on Saturday, and a masked ball on the Saturday evening, as well as many other events. The carnival has been running since 1985 when a local Samba club decided to bring a little festivity to the streets of Bremen. http://www.bremer-karneval.de/ Lütte Sail Bremerhaven Held in Bremerhaven, to the North of Bremen itself, this is an annual boat festival that takes place in August.
