Bologna Holidays Overview
Situated in the North of Italy, Bologna provides a mixture of intellectualism, fine food and fashion. It is known to the rest of the world as the home of Bolognese sauce, usually served with pasta, and it has the oldest university in Europe. It is a centre for left-leaning political thinkers, and modern Italian socialist politics were born here in the early twentieth century.
While none of the buildings in Bolgna can be considered exceptionally stunning, the city as a whole is an architectural masterpiece, with a harmonious maze of medieval streets. It is best explored on foot, and without a fixed plan. There will be plenty of eclectic museums, chic shopping centres and quaint canals to tempt you.

Fest di San Luca
Taking place in May on Ascension Day, the Festa di San Luca is a procession of the statue of San Luca from the hills of Bologna, through the town, and into the Basilica di San Pietro, where it lies for a week.

Held during October, this festival is held in honour of Bologna’s patron saint, San Pietro. It includes a Holy mass and a procession around the main streets of Bologna.

Bologna Motor Show
December in Bologna sees one of Europe’s most prestigious car and motorbike exhibitions held at the BolognaFiere Exhibition Centre. The motor show includes races, exhibitions, and talks, and each year it has a theme based on current developments in the motor industry. It is also possible to take a test drive with companies exhibiting outdoors.
