Billings Holidays Overview
Billings is Montana's largest city and home to more than 100,000 people. Billings hosts a large number of regional events like outdoor activities, rodeos, athletic contests and music festivals and is also a major health care centre. The city is the gateway to the legendary Yellowstone National Park.
Billings has very distinctive neighbourhoods. The southern side of the city is the oldest and also the most culturally diverse. The historic district of Bottom Westend has many of the first mansions of the city. South Park is where a lot of festivals and food fairs are hosted during the summer months. Josephine Crossing is one of the city's newer and more contemporary neighbourhoods.
In and around Billings are many unique attractions like the Pompeys Pillar, a national monument and a natural rock formation with inscriptions. The pillar also has Native American petroglyphs. The Pictograph Caves in Billings feature prehistoric paintings while the Chief Plenty Coups State Park is a national historic landmark with the grave site and log house of the last Crow Chief.
Billings is also home to Montana's largest and most important contemporary art museum, Yellowstone Art Museum, in the downtown area. The city has more breweries than anywhere else in Montana and plenty of pubs where the brews can be enjoyed.
Activities in Billings include rodeos, food fairs, concerts, art walks, bike trails, walking, rappelling, mountain biking, golf, boating, fishing, mountain climbing, skiing, rock climbing and hiking among others. There are also many notable annual festivals and events that are celebrated by the locals all year round.
