Biarritz Holidays Overview
Located in the French Basque Country in the south west corner of France, Biarritz is a glamorous costal resort which is also a surfing centre, having some of Europe’s best waves. The city is built around the fashionable beaches, and the Place Clemenceau, which forms the heart of the city, is just south of La Grande Plage, or main beach.
The heyday of Biarritz began in the nineteenth century when Napoleon III and his Spanish wife visited the seaside town regularly. Parts of the architecture along the coast date from this period, although there are also fine examples of belle-epoque and art deco buildings.

Roxy Jam
Surfing championships take place in Biarritz all year round, but Roxy Jam, a major female long boarding championship is one of the best known. The festival is part of the ASP circuit and includes non surfing events such as music concerts. It takes place over five days in mid July.
