A country township in the heart of the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, Ballina is located on the Pacific Highway on the northern shore of the Richmond River only one hour from the Gold Coast. A thriving community, Ballina has some of the most beautiful beaches and picturesque headlands on the east coast of Australia.
Established in the 1840s, Ballina remained a port till the mid 20th century for the logging of the large stands of Australian Red Cedar found throughout the region. Captain Henry Rous an early explorer, first discovered the Richmond River in 1828 and named it after the fifth Duke of Richmond.
Ballina is an ideal destination for a family holiday or a romantic adventure for two. Features of the town centre include restaurants and cafes, cinema, ten pin bowling and a skate bowl. Venture out a bit and there are many attractions to keep you entertained throughout your stay.
