Goa Flights Guide

Goa, IndiaGoa is a popular holiday destination on the west coast of India. It was previously a Portuguese colony and thus has a blend of cultural influences, architecture, and food. The stunning beaches are a major factor in the large numbers of people visiting the area. Do not be surprised if you see a cow sauntering past as you sunbathe! The prime times to visit are between November and February.

The villages around the main area provide a wonderful insight into Goa. They are the area's heart and soul, filled with personality and charm. You can visit various villages easily. Try, for example, Mollem, Assolna, Britona, Goa Velha, Shiroda, and Curtorim.

In Old Goa you can see delightful old churches, serious convents, and a range of monuments. There are many ancient temples scattered across the state. A top temple is Shree Manguesh Shantadurgai Prassana. Chapora Fort is an impressive sight. Of all Goa's churches, the top ones to visit include Bom Jesus Basilica, Se Cathedral, the Church of Saint Catejan, the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi, and the Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. There are numerous museums and art galleries across Goa.

Some of the best beaches include Agonda, Polem, Colva, Calangute, Palolem, Bogomolo, Candolim, Vagator, and Anjuna. Each offers beautiful sands and lovely waters. Diving, paragliding, kite surfing, and jet skiing are possible at certain times of the year.

Head to Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary to see wild Goa; you can see wild boar, birds, bison, gaur, sambar, and more. If you are very lucky you may even see elephants. Other natural attractions include Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary and Cortigao Wildlife Sanctuary. Dudh Sagar Waterfall is a pleasant place for a picnic, walking, and simply relaxing in the spray of the cascading water.

Goa has an airport, Dabolim Airport. Most flights transit through Mumbai. One can also get to Goa by train and bus. It is also possible to drive to Goa through very scenic areas. Cars, motorbikes, and buses are local means of transport.
