Kampala (Entebbe), UgandaUganda's capital city of Kampala is near to the shores of Lake Victoria. It has a welcoming atmosphere and is typically a very safe city.

The airport that serves Kampala is situated in the city of Entebbe. Entebbe is located 35 kilometres away from the city centre, and most visitors will be required to pay for a visa on arrival. Within Kampala you can get around by motorbike taxis, known locally as boda bodas, minibuses, also known as matatus but also referred to as taxis, and special hires, which to most of the world are known as taxis. Boda bodas are very dangerous, with a high death toll.

Climb Kikaya Hill and visit the Bahai Temple that sits at the summit. In addition, pay a visit to the Wamala Tombs. They are the final resting place for several early Buganda Kings. Of note, Kabaka Ssuuna is buried here – luckily, his family were not buried with him, as during his lifetime he had over 140 wives and fathered over 200 children!

The Namugongo Martyrs Shrines offers a glimpse into the area's darker past.

For some action and adrenalin, you can go white water rafting, ATV riding, bungee jumping, and jet boating.
