Dusseldorf Flights Guide

Dusseldorf, GermanyGermany's Dusseldorf sits on the River Rhine and is a popular weekend getaway destination. It is well known for its pulsating night life, lively carnivals, terrific shopping, various fun city events, and stylish fashion fairs. Enjoy a stroll along the promenade and see a charming side to the city.

The Old Town of Dusseldorf is not an old town at all. And that is part of what makes it so famous and appealing. The original old town was devastated during the Second World War, but it was then painstakingly rebuilt exactly how it was before. It is an interesting place to visit, especially when armed with this knowledge. Out of hours, it transforms into party central. It has the nickname of the longest bar in the world due to the abundance of bars within a very small area. At night the streets are lit with wonderful old gas lamps, casting a warm glow across the buildings.

Another sight in Dusseldorf is the old castle tower, that stands proudly in Castle Square. The Pegeluhr Clock and the Gothic St Lambertus Basilica are two attractive structures. The City Hall is grand and impressive, and the City Monument is a glorious artistic representation of the city.

The restaurant at the top of the Rhine Tower provides excellent views.

Dusseldorf International Airport is Germany's third largest airport. It is a busy airport and flies to numerous destinations domestically and internationally. Many budget airlines fly into Airport Weeze. The train network is very good, linking Dusseldorf to many other places. Public transport in the city is also excellent. As the city centre is reasonably compact, walking is a great way to hit the highlights.
