Dubai Flights Guide

Dubai, United Arab EmiratesModern and glamorous Dubai is part of the United Arab Emirates. Known for being a haunt of the rich and famous, Dubai exudes a certain air of class and sophistication.

Beaches and shopping are both high in the list of things to do, and the city boasts some of the best shopping malls in the world. Golf enthusiasts will be happy with the selection of world class courses.

The city is very much split into the old and new parts. In the old city areas you will find the historic district of Bastakiya. Here you can marvel at reconstructed traditional buildings, and take in museums and art galleries. In Shindagha District you will find the home of a previous Sheik, as well as the Heritage Village. The sacred Jumeirah Mosque is worth a visit, and at night it is lit up rather spectacularly. There are several bustling markets in the old city.

A must see site in the new part of the city is the impressive Burj Khalifa; it is the tallest building in the world and towers over the city. Ride to the observation for unbeatable views. Burj al Arab is also impressive; it is designed to resemble the billowing sails of a ship. The marina is elegant and houses a mall, restaurants, a beach, shops, and more. The Dubai Fountain is an incredible sight, shooting water high into the air to music, accompanied by lights.

There are three large man made islands called Palm Islands. Shaped like palm leaves, they are really unique. There are pretty parks within the city area. Dubai Creek makes for another great visit.

Heading into the desert is an incredible experience, and other natural attractions in the locale include waterfalls, lakes, and cliffs.

Wild Wadi Park offers fun for the whole family, with water rides, swimming, a lagoon, waterfalls, and slides. Other family friendly places include the zoo and the dolphinarium.

There are two airports that serve Dubai, and there is a land border crossing with Oman. Boats links Dubai to various destinations, mainly in the form of cruise ships. Within Dubai, most people use cars to get around, although there is a fairly new and efficient metro system in operation. Taxis and buses also carry people around the city.
