Located high above sea level and surrounded by the world's highest peaks, that feeling of otherworldliness is all-encompassing. This journey also takes us beyond that and into parts of Tibet not experienced by many travellers. Lake Manasarovar lies at 4556 metres above sea level, the highest freshwater lake in the world, while Mount Kailash, 6638 metres, is the world's holiest mountain. Both sites are revered by Hindus and Buddhists, as well as various other religions, and attract a multitude of pilgrims from Nepal, India and further afield.
