Bangkok is full of impressive monuments, whilst the riverside town of Kanchanaburi offers secrets to a sobering past with its infamous Bridge over the River Kwai. Ayuthaya and Sukhothai are Siam’s two ancient capitals and a rice barge cruise and a bicycle ride enable us to experience these historical sites from different perspectives. Venturing further north, we overnight at an elephant conservation centre and then spend a morning with these magnificent beasts. Chiang Mai, famous for its night bazaar, and then we are off to soak up the sun in the south of Thailand. We spend 4 lazy days in a resort in Ao Nang.
