China's Chengdu is located in Sichuan Province, next to rich, fertile plains and low mountains. Agriculture is important in the area.
Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is one of the country's main air hubs. It offers regional, national, and international flights. Trains connect Chengdu with most major cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Chongqing, and Kunming. The city's three bus stations serve a variety of destinations. Chengdu has an extensive bus network as well as a metro system. Taxis are widely available, and a few motorised pedi-cabs still operate in some parts of the city.

A trip not to miss is the Chengdu Panda Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. It is home to pandas, red pandas, and birds, and is the world's largest panda conservation facility.
Local cuisine is notoriously spicy. You can find less fiery dishes in a selection of Hong Kong and Cantonese restaurants.
