Chandigarh Flights Guide

Chandigarh, IndiaIndia's Chandigarh is unique for several reasons. Firstly, whilst being the capital of two states, Punjab abd Haryana, it falls into neither state's territory – it is administered by the Indian government. Secondly, it was India's first planned city. It enjoys a better infrastructure and internal organisation than many other places in the country. It provides a pleasant respite from the otherwise chaotic hustle and bustle of India.

Flights connect Chandigarh with Delhi, Mumbai, Jammu, and Srinigar. Trains run to and from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Jaipur, Kerala, Howrah, Lucknow, and others. It also enjoys good bus links. Internally, there are good bus services, as well as a sightseeing hop on hop off bus. A few taxis and tuk tuks are available, and cycle rickshaws are prevalent.

Most attractions in Chandigarh are man made. The large Rose Garden and Sukhna Lake are pretty places to visit. At the lake you can find paddle boats, a small amusement area, a cafe, shops, and walking trails. It is popular with tourists and locals alike.

Landmarks include the High Court, the Capitol, and the Secretariat. There are several museums around the city, including the Chandigarh Museum and the Museum and Art Gallery.

Don't miss the Rock Garden. It may have started from humble beginnings, shrouded in a veil of secrecy, but it is a beautiful and unusual attraction today. Many interesting sculptures sit in nice courtyards, surrounded by lovely scenery.
