Caracas Flights Guide

Caracas, VenezuelaVenezuala's capital city of Caracas is an exciting city with many attractions, a thriving arts scene, and a vibrant culture. It offers delicious food and a lively night life. Visitors can party the night away if they desire, with clubs still going strong at four and five o'clock in the morning! Caracas sits in a valley with Mount Avila providing both a stunning visual backdrop and a natural barrier between the Caribbean Sea and Caracas.

Simon Bolivar Airport is a major gateway into the city, operating flights to a number of domestic and international destinations. Buses connect the city to most major destinations in the country. A hire car, whilst a hindrance in the city centre, can be an ideal way to escape city life for a few hours and head out into some beautifully scenic nearby natural areas. Numerous taxis operate within the city. Public transport consists of buses, mini buses, and the metro.

In La Plaza Bolivar you can see some delightful old colonial architecture. It also has several statues of Simon Bolivar, a leading military figure who was instrumental in the fight and revolution against the Spanish Empire. You can visit the place where this national hero was born at La Casa Natal de Simon Bolivar. The Museo Bolivariano is next door and contains various war relics.

Caracas University is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is home to a wonderful blend of architecture, art, and decorative features.

Other places of interest in Caracas include the Museo de Arte Colonial, the Jardin Botanico, the large Parque del Este, the Centro de Arte La Estancia, and the gorgeous neighbourhood of El Hatillo.

A top place for shopping is the Bulevar de Sabana Grande. You can wander the old cobbled streets and peruse a range of goods in the many shops. There are also hotels, restaurants, and cafes along the street.
